What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner -
Our time together in Beginner Songwriters will focus on the fundamentals of songwriting, including form, narrative, dynamics and more. We will especially explore motives for songwriting, the balance of freedom and form, and work on discovering your unique voice as a songwriter. Let's have fun!
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Students can expect to be placed in a tentative vocal classification (i.e. soprano, alto, tenor, bass, etc.) and to learn various singing and breathing techniques. We will work to improve breathing and clarity of tone, as well as develop techniques that will allow the student to perform well in the genre(s) of their choice. The primary goals of our time together a proper technique for singing;-training the musical ear;-working towards mastery of scales and intervals;-and above all, we will work together to FIND, ENCOURAGE, and STRENGTHEN the student's natural and unique voice! and yes, also to have fun :)

B.M. (Bachelor of Music) in Music Education Norfolk State University
Performing Experience:
3+ years in the Norfolk State University Concert Choir Performed in concert along acclaimed artists such as Kathleen Battle, Richard Smallwood, and Byron Cage
Experience Teaching:
3+ at Norfolk State University as section leader in various ensembles; provided department-wide tutoring for music majors; conducted and taught with the Virginia Chorale Young Singer's Project.
