Afton began singing at a young age and now holds a bachelor's degree in music with a vocal concentration from IUP. During high school, Afton attended the PMEA All-State Chorus festival. In adulthood, Afton has sung professionally with the Atlanta Opera Chorus, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and various church choirs as a hired staff singer. Afton's teaching experience is in both the classroom and private voice lessons, and she is comfortable teaching a variety of styles, from opera, choral, and Broadway to contemporary styles like pop, rock, and country.
