About Me

Hi, my name is Lemuel, and I am a trumpet player from Nassau Bahamas. I have been a student of music for 22 years. My musical influences include Wynton Marsalis, Phil Driscoll, and Roy Hardgrove and I also enjoy pop artists like Brian Mcknight. My teaching style can best be described as clear and effective. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe that anyone can be a professional through practice and dedication. In my lessons, you can expect to learn a lot about music and the many life experiences it can give you. I like to tell my student'sprocrastination is the root of all failure in life. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students grow in musical skills and knowledge. My favorite performance was my graduate recital. MMystudents love that I make music fun and explain how lessons transfer to the real world. I primarily teach Classical trumpet performance, but I can also teach many other performance genres. Formal Education:

MM Trumpet performance from Western Illinois University; BM in music education from Acadia University.

Performing Experience:

Performed a trumpet concerto with Acadia University Wind Ensemble, Graduate assistant with the Lamoine Faculty Brass quintet, lead Trumpet player with the WIU Jazz band, principal trumpet with the WIU Symphony Orchestra at Western Illinois University; former 1st trumpet player with the Bahamas National Symphony Orchestra, played with the maritime brass quintet and The King's Chorus in Nova Scotia Canada, performed with Symphony Nova Scotia, the Quincy symphony orchestra in Quincy Illinois, and substituted as Principal Trumpet with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony in Galesburg Illinois; Finalists in the Western Illinois university concerto competition 2021 and 2022.
