Hi, my name is Tanner, and I have been playing saxophone since the 6th grade and trumpet since high school. I am currently in my last year of my saxophone performance degree at UT Arlington, and recently finished my senior saxophone recital. I chose the field of music education because as a child I always felt most at home and happy while in music class, and I want to be able to pass that feeling on to others.

What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Advanced - Intermediate
I place an emphasis on learning correct fundamentals early on so that all other aspects are easier as the student becomes more advanced. I also try to use music and books that are not as standard as other teachers to keep things interesting, and to keep the music fun to play.
Formal Education:
I am currently in my final year of studying saxophone performance at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Private Education:
I have studied under Kurt Shafer (former lead sax at TCU), Brandon Jones (former tenor player for the 2 o’clock lab band at UNT), and currently study under Tim Ishii (head of jazz department at UT Arlington).
Performing Experience:
I have spent the past 3 years performing in the top wind ensemble at UT Arlington, and spent 3 years playing in the different jazz ensembles.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching privately in the south lake area since the beginning of 2023, and have worked with highschool students around the dfw area for about 2 years.
