About Me

Hi, my name is Lisa Marie, and I am a trumpet player from Tucson. I have been a student of music for 45 years. My musical influences include drum and bugle corps and I also enjoy small ensembles and classical music. My teaching style can best be described as personalized, fun and energetic. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I am patient, positive and encouraging. In my lessons, you can expect to learn technique, music theory and also how to care for your instrument. I like to tell my students everyone has the ability to make music. I take my love for music and want to share it with you. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the joy in my students as they advance in their abilities to make music. My favorite performance was 1984 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps DCI Finals. My students love that I have a lot of patience and energy. I primarily teach older beginners but I can also teach young beginners. My approach as a teacher is to encourage all students and tailor the lessons to each individual's learning style. What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons

Beginner -

My lessons are focused on the entry level beginning trumpet music student. My students can expect to have fun! They will learn the basics of trumpet playing, including reading music and proper care of their instrument. They will build a strong foundation that will allow for advancement. My teaching method is patient, positive and encouraging. My goal is to make playing fun for the beginning student so they stick with it and advance. If you're not sure if you or your child will like playing the trumpet, take one lesson and give me a chance to show you how rewarding it is to make music.

Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts-Music

Private Education:

Private instruction in trumpet classical music.

Performing Experience:

In addition performing in concert band, marching band, jazz band and brass ensemble in high school and college, I played in Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 1984 and Chieftains Drum and Bugle Corps from 1985 to 1999. Currently play in the New Horizons Band at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music and participated in the Tucson Brass Workshop 2023.

Experience Teaching:

I also teach beginners of all ages in multiple recreational areas, including skiing, firearms safety and horseback riding. I also was a clinical embalming instructor for Mesa Community College and tutored English and Music Theory at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
