Hi, my name is Kevin, and I am a drummer from Riverside, California. I have been a student of music for 28 years, almost my entire life. My musical influences include Jeff Porcaro, Glenn Kotche, Carter Beauford, and Travis Barker, and I also enjoy less conventional drummers like Meg White and Patrick Carney. My teaching style can best be described as holistic and fun. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe guiding students to find their own unique voice on the instrument will take them much further than focusing only on the fundamentals which we absolutely will also be covering. In my lessons, you can expect to learn proper posture and technique, breath control, ergonomics, and efficiency, how to effectively play and perform with other musicians, and most importantly, how to find your own unique voice. I like to tell my students you should always mean what you play. My favorite thing about teaching is the opportunity to bring more music into the world and to see the excitement of a student when they nail a tough rudiment, drum fill, or play a great show. My favorite performance was in Canada, opening for B.B. King. My students love that I keep things light and fun, but lessons with me are dense, and they always get their money's worth. I primarily teach rock and all of its subgenres, but I can also teach other various styles like folk, Latin, funk, etc. My approach as a teacher is to break down the barrier to entry and show my students that they can find their own voice and experience musical fulfillment no matter their age or skill level.
