I can’t imagine what our world would be like without music! I grew up listening to my family playing accordion, drums, guitar, and piano. I was exposed at an early age to a wide range of music genres. I began playing piano at 10 years of age, and have been playing ever since. I have also played and taught violin. I studied music in college and under the guidance of professional pianists in California and Arizona. In early 2000, I founded my own piano teaching business with private students and homeschool groups. I have taught in my home, students’ homes, public schools, churches, senior living homes, conservatories, and studios and have played in recitals, duets, and Phoenix Music Teachers Association performances. I teach students of all ages, but have been told I have a special knack for those of young and old ages. My youngest student has been 3 years old. old and my oldest 70 yrs. old. I have also had experience teaching students with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. I lean toward a traditional style of teaching with a focus on lessons, scales, techniques, and theory. I also encourage students who express interest in songwriting. For instruction, I utilize lesson books, worksheets, flashcards, music games, and chalkboard materials. I have met previous students, whom I taught at a young age, who tell me that they are still actively playing piano now that they are older. This warms my heart to know that I made a significant impact on a student’s life. I hope I am able to do the same for you!
