About Me

Singers/songwriter, vocal coach/producer, and actor, formally trained at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University majoring in vocal music education, Mazhorell is a Vocal Performance Specialist and powerhouse vocalist born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. As a solo artist, she has performed in stage roles ranging from opera Maria in “Porgy and Bess to musical theatre Asaka from Once On This Island, The Devil in Nativity; and The Hope, among others. Mazhorell has made a name for herself performing cover and originals songs in shows of her own creation. She is the creative genius behind the Annual Christmas production, “Silver Bells With Mazhorell and Friends” a concert designed to raise awareness for domestic abuse and the support of single moms and their children as well as “Boogie on Down” a live disco tribute, “Reggae Vibrations” a tribute to her Caribbean roots and “The Many Faces of Love” Valentine’s show all staged at local venues such as The Deyor Performing Arts Center, Stambaugh Auditorium, The Youngstown Playhouse and many more. Along with sharing the stage with an opening for National acts and recording artists like Mint Condition, Trey Songz, Maureen McGovern, and The Youngstown Valley Divas, she has also performed background vocals with artists such as Common, Chantae Cann, and, most recently, Grammy Award Winner, Chrisette Michele. Always a supporter of New talent, she operates M.A.J Music Productions to share her skills and experience with up-and-coming and established artists who are cultivating their talent. Mazhorell was also the Music Director of The Youngstown Playhouse’s productions of The Color Purple and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She also boasts of being the First Black Female Conductor/Meastra of the Youngstown Symphony! She is new to Cleveland, and having only been here for 6 months is looking to cultivate new musical relationships as well as build her own Vocal studio!
