Hello! My name is Blake, and I am 21 years old. I started my musical journey around ten years ago. I first started taking guitar lessons in 2014, then eventually moved over to taking drum lessons in 2017. Once I graduated from high school, I decided it was time to take my musical aspirations more seriously, so I applied and got accepted to attend After two years, I received an Associate’s in Sound Production along with a few performance credits. These days I have three bands I play around Oklahoma with. I drum for an alternative rock band called The Muffled Sirens and a noise rock band called Larry In The Weeds. I also sing and play guitar for my own solo work on occasion. Not only that, but I have had many other experiences in the past. At the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, I played drums in the pit for a sold out showing of the musical, Dreamgirls, which was a really fun and unique experience! I’ve also had my various other bands I’ve performed with and recorded in studio with multiple projects all spanning across many many genres. My personal taste in music is just about anything. My favorite genres are rock, pop, and folk, but I also love to pull jazz influences into my playing. I would say the bands that are my biggest influences are The Flaming Lips, Blink-182, Harry Styles, and Steve Miller Band, however I have also spent a lot of time learning more traditional styles of music such as the Bossa Nova, Mozambique, and other Afro-Cuban grooves. I love to teach people new skills! My teaching style has always been very relaxed and personal to each student. Everyone learns differently, so whenever I have a student struggling with a concept, I try different approaches until we find the one that works best for them. This method of learning helps the student grasp the concepts to a deeper level and definitely makes the learning process much more fun!
