4yrs Teaching & 38yrs Pla Years

About Me
Josh began playing guitar at the age of 11. Over the years, he developed his skills further by listening to those better than him and, of course practice. He gained performance experience in the Seattle area by playing at such venues as Showbox Sodo, Central Tavern, and El Corazon, and with acts such as Stript, Alice-N-Chains, and Iron Spyder. Though Josh can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Metallica, Van Halen, Alice-N-Chains, and Pantera which had great influence on his style of playing. Josh loves music because it brings him inner peace and loves teaching music because he wants to share and spread that inner peace. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Josh can help you expand and enhance your playing. Josh is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals. Formal Education:

High School, Some College

Private Education:

Mike Starr & Jerry Cantrell (Alice-N-Chains), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Howard Leese (Heart & Bad Company), Brian McGarvey (Student of Chris DeGarmo from Queensryche), & Brian(B.J.)Jorgensen( The BEST Guitar Player on the Planet!). I met, Alice-In-Chains(Bassist) Mike Starr, and(Guitarist) Jerry Cantrell@ Naff Studios, a rehearsal hall in W.Seattle where my band would practice. Amongst Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone( Pearl Jam with a different singer), Tad, and Forced Entry. Mike and I became pretty good friends. Even though Jerry & Chris taught me a lot on guitar, Mike taught me the most, teaching me almost everyday. Unless you knew Mike you would've never known what an excellent guitar player he was. He's the one who showed me how to tap like Eddie Van Halen. I asked him "How did you learn to do that"? He said "Eddie Van Halen showed it to me". He said he's a big Alice in Chains fan and invited us to his house next time we're in town. Howard Leese dated my sister for a couple of years and was at our house a lot. Every Friday and every other Saturday, like clockwork, he'd be there teaching me "Heart" songs while my sister was "Getting Ready". Brian McGarvey (Now my Brother-In-Law) was my first guitar instructor. He was a student of Chris DeGarmo, the lead guitarist of Queensryche. He taught me on a regular basis of twice a week for a year and then once a week for about 6 months. He said I've showed you all I know. Brian (B.J.) Jorgensen and I met in junior high and became fast friends. He was at my house everyday from 1988-'92. I learned more from watching him play, then everything else I've ever learned combined. It's absolutely impossible to put into words how gifted this guy is. He was and still is my biggest inspiration and the Greatest Guitar Player on the Planet!

Performing Experience:

Every Club, Pub, Tavern, and Bar in Seattle except Showbox Market. Studio 7, Showbox Sodo, Central Tavern, El Corazon, to name some favorites. I've toured in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and a 56 USA City Tour throughout every state except (10) of the (12) along the east coast, Alaska, and Hawaii

Experience Teaching:

I play and record on the weekends. When people started asking me if I would teach them, I just told them I'd teach them for free. This is to test people on how serious they are, because if they missed day one it's $100 an hour. I mainly taught friends and family, and 5 other people who actually wanted to learn, then I was teaching 2-3 times a week. That went on from 2006-07, right up until I went on tour for a better part of a year. Two of them are better than I am. One of them is teaching on here, he's the one who told me about this website. I taught one of my neighbors kids for the last 6 months, up until they moved last month.
