Hello! My name is Dru, and I am a 25 year old guitarist that has almost 14 years experience playing guitar and 1 year teaching. Ever since I started playing guitar music has always been my greatest passion in life. From ages 10-16, I had spent many of those years honing my skills to build my confidence to join a band. I had learned as many genres, scales, chords, songs, anything that would progress my knowledge of the guitar and give me full fretboard fluency. I was 17 when I joined my first band. It was a psychedelic-rock band based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was an awesome experience for me as it was my first opportunity to get some real stage experience and building chemistry with other players. After a couple of years the group unfortunately ended, as we had all left for college. In college, I had played in many cover bands to make money on the side. Which is where I was quite glad to have been a sponge of genres during my learning stages, as I played everything from Jazz to Country to Metal. When I was 20, I had joined another group based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This group was my first metal band, I had played with them for about a year and a half gigging all around the tri-state area of Philadelphia. I had played rhythm guitar in this group and had quite a blast. I eventually left the group 2 years later. As I was preparing to move to Charleston! Upon moving to Charleston, I had started teaching some friends and family guitar to help build up some rapport for my teacher career. I have had such a blast with those I have had the opportunity to teach and work with. It has given me a realization that teaching someone guitar, and watching how motivated they get when they are taught how to play something they never thought they could, fulfills me. This has become something that is a serious passion of mine aside from my own musical endeavors. Lastly, I currently play in a Metal band in Charleston called ‘Kept in Ruins’. I have been in this group for the last 4 months and play lead guitar for us. We have played at venues like the Music Farm and also play around many bars. We had also won metal band of the year in Charleston! We just got back from playing a festival in Boulder, Colorado and are currently working on new material!
