James has always loved music from an early age. He began playing drums and percussion at the age of 9 and continued his education by going on to Anne Arundel Community College. His musical influences include drummers ranging from Elvin Jones to John Bonham and Steve Gadd. James's favorite thing about music is collaboration and his favorite thing about teaching music is the "eureka moment" when you can see it in a student's eye that they fully understand whatever concept is being taught. One of his favorite teaching experiences was teaching a former student all 26 American Rudiments.
