Hello! My name is Barent. I'm a trumpet player originally from Colorado, but I came to Dallas to study at the University of North Texas. I am going into my senior year as a Jazz Studies major, but my playing experience is not limited to jazz. I gig regularly around the DFW area and have traveled to almost every state for gigs. These gigs range from jazz quartets, to latin bands, to chamber ensembles, to funk horn lines, to top 40 pop gigs, to studio recordings, and many more! Versatility is extremely important for a brass player and my experience in many fields of playing allows me to teach any student how to be fluent in these musical languages. I have been playing the trumpet for over 10 years and have been teaching regularly to all ages for 6 years. I value positive reinforcement and empathy when teaching students, and LOVE building a sense of community within my studio. Furthermore, every student has individual needs and every student learns things differently, but I absolutely love solving the puzzle of what makes each student fall in love with the instrument. Teaching has always been my passion and I hope to share that passion with more students through your organization.
