Hi, my name is Evan and I am a guitar, bass, and piano instructor from Chesapeake. I have been a student of music for 13 years. My musical influences include anything from funk to country and I also enjoy playing the occasional metal show. My teaching style can best be described as laid back, and I tailor it to each student’s needs and desires. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that want them to have fun and learn at the same time. In my lessons, you can expect to learn music theory, improvisational skills, sight reading abilities, and how to feel comfortable in any situation. I like to tell my students things that are cool take time!-You can’t build a house in a day. My favorite thing about teaching is not only seeing my students get better and do the things they want, but I’ve become more patient since becoming a teacher. It has flowed over into my daily life and I’m very grateful. My favorite performance was anytime I would headline at Shakas in highschool, or anytime playing with my somewhat ramshackle band Funkules. My students love that I bring excitement and passion to the lesson. I have been told by previous students that my energy and love of music has made them want to practice more than other teachers. I primarily teach guitar and bass, but I can also teach piano and recording techniques. My approach as a teacher is to have fun while keeping a serious outlook on music.
