About Me

Hey Guys ! My name is Pete ! I'm a Singer/Songwriter, recording artist and worship musician. I grew up in the Chicago area during the 90's grunge era. I played in the same Chicago venues as the Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP etc.. I started playing guitar at 12 yrs old and was in my first band at 14. I was the "third guitarist" who had to pick up bass, lol. So glad I did though. My most influential bass players were Cliff Burton from Metallica and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. So I was always a finger player as opposed to picking. In my early 20's I decided to become a solo artist and started to do solo gigs. I started to listen to artists in the Post-Grunge era like Howie Day, David Grey, Train, Five For Fighting, Rob Thomas and Lenny Kravitz. Having also been into Metal I also enjoyed heavier Post-Grunge hard rock like Creed, Shinedown, Killers & Three Doors Down. I also know a lot of CCM worship music too. I play bass and acoustic at my church. I can play/teach songs from artists like Elevation, Bethel and Hillsong as well as Phil Wickham and Brandon Lake. Along with playing/teaching bass and guitar I also produce my own singles and have a few Spotify releases. I work in Logic Pro so I can also teach production fundamentals if that is something you are interested in learning. I"m a songwriter as well so I love to teach my songwriting techniques. I've been taught by a top 40 CCM writer named Ross King. He wrote the song "Things That I'm Afraid Of" which made it to Top 10 on CCM radio a couple years ago. I've been writing since I was 15 and have over 100 of my own songs, so I can teach you my personal approach to songwriting. Most popular songs are fairly simple combinations of progressions. You'll be surprised how easy it can be if you have fundamentals in your instrument well practiced. My approach to teaching is very personalized. In our first session I like to have a conversation about what your goals are, what artists you are looking to replicate and we can produce a "made-for you" curriculum. So whether you are a beginner at guitar, bass, songwriting or audio production or you have been playing a few years, I can be of great value getting you off the ground and running or honing in on a particular skill. I've been playing nearly 40 years, I'm very personable, easy to get along with and look forward to helping you on your music journey. What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce

Beginner - Intermediate

Expect to learn the basics on the equipment that is necessary, set-up, connections and recording software. My experiences is in Logic Pro or Garage Band. So that would be the software that I would work specifically in. I have recorded and produced, mixed many songs. I do not specialize in mixing and mastering though. I can have you laying tracks and creating your own demos in fairly short order, depending on the commitment to learning the software and equipment availability.

What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

If you are a beginner, you can expect to learn basic techniques for fingerpicking or regular picking. I prefer to have the student pick a song that they like that isn't too advanced to learn. If you have some experience, I can teach how melodic feeling and passion goes into your technique whether it is fingerpicking regular picking or slap bass. I play with lots of emotion and feel.. you can expect to learn exactly how I do it.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I can teach rhythm guitar well. I'm not a lead guitarist. If you are a beginner, expect to learn the basic chords that construct most popular songs. I prefer to have you pick a song that you like that isn't too advanced and start with that. But I can also teach basics and fundamentals for major scales, which will enable you to move around within a scale and experiment with different chord progressions and techniques of timing and rhythm. Whether to learn other songs or for your own songwriting purposes.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Expect to learn the basics of popular song structure. Songwriting is a very creative process and is really subjective and not dependent on a particular way. But I do lean in the vein of popular rock music or pop music. There are common structures that are recognized over time once you start learning about how songs are constructed. But there is a fairly common songwriting structure in most popular music that is very teachable. And I will be able to help you learn exactly how I do it for my own songs as well as others.
