Ashley Y.

Flutist Ashley Y. is currently based in Minneapolis and pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota under the tutelage of Immanuel Davis. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Asia, North America, and Europe, including venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, where she made her debut as the First Prize winner of the Golden Classical Music International Competition, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Congress Graz Music Hall, The Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, National Taiwan Concert Hall. In addition to performing, Ashley is also a passionate educator. She is a teaching assistant at UMN and was an adjunct flute instructor at New York University while earning her Master’s degree there. Ashley has been giving private lessons since 2015. Her goal is to empower students to find their individuality in music. Every person learns and develops talents at a different pace towards different goals. Therefore, she strives to help and encourage her students to hold a sustainable approach to learning music that focuses on short and long-term achievement.
