Aloha! I’m Mrs. Alyssa, formally known as “Miss Waikiki” 2019 from the Miss America competition! I was classically trained for a decade by a broadway lead actress, Kristen Lei, who spent her break out years being Miss Saigon in “Miss Saigon”. I was in many plays doing theatre! Although, I always loved singing since I was a child. I grew up in a Christian church that allowed me to learn and practice often piano, music theory, and powerful vocals! Fun fact about me: Once, there wasn’t enough men to play the lead male roles, so I was Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka! It was my first time acting, as a child. After my reign as Miss Waikiki, I realized I had the ability to empower myself and others. I then embarked on a creative endeavor of forming, promoting and managing my own band. We did rock and created a lot of fun memories for my community back home, in Hawai’i. I also did many aolo performances as a vocalist, without my band! Whether it was covers or originals, I have done it all. I’ve opened for Fear, Shing02, Sateen and other lovely legends who are deeply admired by their respective communities. I have a very lush background of experience in music, in many genres, and I spent a lot of hours entertaining. I believe in performance that embodies not only just technique, but vitality too! I also taught vocal lessons back home in Hawai’i, and spent time working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I enjoy uplifting and bringing the shine out of people, it makes me feel fulfilled! My teaching offers more than just know-how. I witnessed students become confident in many facets of their life, seeing for themselves that we all possess the capability to find empowerment, through what I call the sixth sense of music!
