Megan has always loved music from an early age. She began playing piano at the age of 7 and continued her education by learning more instruments. Started playing drums at 11 at church in her grandparents gospel group called the Samaritans. Then picked up guitar chords at the age of 19. Her musical influences include her grandparents and growing up with a musically inclined family. Megan's favorite thing about music is it’s always been the safety net I needed growing up and the outlet I needed to get past hard times, and her favorite thing about teaching music is the fact that other people can experience the happiness felt when you’re able to get lost in making music. One of her favorite teaching experiences was a child with several disorders had a meltdown towards his mother on the football field, and she had him come over to her house to play with her two boys ages 14&9 and he was fascinated with her drumset. She had him sit down behind the set and played his favorite song and she told him, “let’s get your anger out.” He kept a beat and she knew he was teachable right then. When he’s upset he plays and he’s really amazing at drums now and plus he will reach towards music when he’s feeling negative.
