Greetings! My name is Ben, and I originally hail from coastal Maine. There, in the cold northeast, I began my music journey at the age of eight, playing the bass guitar for the church worship band. From there I joined school band, where I quickly entered jazz band the following year. From there I gained an affinity for jazz philosophy and musical concepts from my trio instructor Ned Ferm, a professional jazz saxophonist. By the time I graduated high school, I started many failed projects, and took my skills out of state to Nashville, Tennessee. There I briefly pursued higher education and decided to strike it as a freelancer after finding college not to my tastes. I performed extensively with local progressive metal act “Convection” and local progressive punk band “Cacophony!” Eventually I wanted to find something outside the Nashville scene and found myself moving to southwest Florida. Here I started a new band “Grymm” with an old band mate of mine, active locally as of present! I don’t have any formal teaching under my belt, but I have loads of experience teaching inexperienced musicians how to play pretty complex material. Things I have successfully taught include polyrhythms, odd time signatures, two hand tapping, arpeggios, and jazz chord voicings! I would love to share my overall two decades of experience with completely fresh to high intermediate players, and hopefully help them avoid some pitfalls I encountered along my musical journey!
