About Me

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I am from Illinois. I have been a student of music for over 10 years! My mom, older sister, and general music teachers in school have played a major role in my love for music. I also enjoy reading and spending time outside! My teaching style can best be described as fun and rewarding while letting my students have some control of the direction we are heading; it is their music career after all! In my lessons, you can expect to learn technique, styling, and how to perform. I like to tell my students to feel the music, not just play it so that they can really enjoy what they are doing. My favorite thing about teaching is hearing my students tell me how accomplished they feel after mastering a piece! My favorite performance was at my first ever completion when I played the piece memorized and the judge loved it so much she had me play part of it again before giving me a perfect score. My students love that I use rewards to motivate and help show their progress. My approach as a teacher is to start with what is already known and then build up the technique, using songs that are known to my students to make it a little easier and more enjoyable.
