Sophie C.

Sophie began playing trombone at the age of 12 and has studied and performed marching, pop, jazz, musical theatre, and classical repertoires in Texas, Scotland, and Las Vegas as a solo musician as well as part of larger ensembles since then including UNLV Symphonic Winds, UNLV World Chamber Music Ensemble, and UNLV Sunset Trombone Choir. She earned her Bachelor of Music at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas where she specialized in instrumental classical composition and learned from renowned trombonists including but not limited to Dawid Myzk, Nathan Tanouye, and Joe Alessi. She has also written, performed, and conducted several pieces for trombone and trombone choir for a wide variety of age groups and skill levels. She hopes to inspire the next generation to pursue trombone and composition professionally through her passion for teaching and instill a strong foundation and appreciation for music performance and composition in people of all ages and backgrounds.
