Matthew began playing drums at the age 7 years old. He developed his skills further by studying privately in Prescott and playing in his middle school and high school marching and jazz bands. He gained performance experience on the drums by playing in rock and metal bands throughout high school, and after graduating he attended the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and received a degree in Music Performance in 2012. After college he joined a couple local outfits in Prescott and spent the next few years on the road and in the studio. These days he spends his time playing at his local church, both for worship and in a band that travels around the tri-city area doing various outreaches and events. He is proficient in many different styles and can also read music. Matthew loves music because he feels that it is an art form that helps people’s physical and mental well-being, as well as a creative outlet that you can take with you wherever you end up going in life.
