Shawna began playing at the age of 22 after picking up a guitar that someone was throwing into the trash. She learned how to play Sweet Home Alabama and never looked back! Shawna is primarily a self taught guitarist using instruction books and videos. Over the years, she developed her skills further by joining a band with her husband, who was also a seasoned guitar player. She gained performance experience in the Seattle/Tacoma area by playing at venues such as Cheney Stadium, outdoor festivals and wineries as a duo in the band “Beautiful Accident”. She writes her own songs and has taken vocal lessons to enhance her performance. Shawna can teach many different genres of music and her musical personal favorites are Sheryl Crow, Dave Mathew’s and Paramore. Shawna loves music because it lets her creatively express her truth and loves teaching music because she helps others to do the same. She believes that a song can change you forever.
