About Me

Hi, my name is Melanie and I am a flutist from the Dominican Republic. I have been a musician for almost 20 years. My musical background is classical music, I studied in an European influenced conservatory in my home country and last summer in Italy, as well as five years of higher education in the United States. I also enjoy jazz performances. My teaching style can best be described as flexible and practical. On the other hand, my teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I will get the student to the desired result with the most suitable method for them. I like to tell my students that learning the flute may look difficult but it can be beautiful and rewarding. My favorite thing about teaching is to see students progress and satisfaction with their playing. I primarily teach teenagers, but I can also teach children or adults.
