I have been an avid fan of music my entire life. I grew up in Massachusetts and started playing the drums at age 17 when I had saved up enough money to buy my own kit. I taught myself how to play by reading tabs and playing along to my favorite songs. From there I was asked to play in a local band and I've been hooked ever since. I took up guitar and vocals during college and also started to get into composition. From there I wanted to record my own music, so I delved into recording arts. I've held nearly every position in bands and am almost always in a live band no matter what. At the same time, I focused on studio work and built my own studio in the basement of my house. That became more serious and I started to record other bands and artists for small money and also teach private guitar and drum lessons from my basement studio. It was then I decided to take my entrepreneurship to the next level and moved to Austin in November 2010. My goal was to open a professional studio there and I accomplished that in just a year-Tea Farm Recordings. Since then I have become a professional gigging musician and audio engineer currently located in Los Angeles. I have had the honor to perform with many top-tier musicians mostly in the jazz/experimental/improv world as a drummer and synthesizer player. I have also led projects such as Yuma, Brazilian Space Program, Primary Mystical Experience, and my latest venture Galecstasy to critical acclaim with multiple album releases on labels My influences are atypical and are what continue to drive me to be excited about the music I'm involved in. I have very diverse tastes ranging from jazz, fusion, psychedelic, shoegaze, dreampop, ambient, soundscape, film scores, and contemporary pop. I'm really interested in anything that pushes the boundaries, is original, and exhibits quality musicianship and production. When I teach, I try to focus on what the student wants to get out of the instrument and also on REAL WORLD APPLICATION. I teach them not just the technical components but also how to interact with other musicians in a formal setting (i.e. band practice, the studio, gigs, etc). Since I have such multi-faceted knowledge and experience as well as being an audio engineer and understanding how to work with people, I think I have a unique, broad, and valuable perspective to offer any student.
