About Me

Hi, my name is Shane, I’m the Drummer & Producer for the extreme metal band ‘Nebethet’ based out of Austin, TX, and I’ve been playing drums for over 20 years. I started out in middle school band, and specialized in battery percussion through high school, while concurrently marching with a Scottish highland bagpipe band, both of which were instrumental in laying a firm musical foundation rooted in results-oriented practice and a respect for the music as a whole. After school I started working on original projects and doing session work, where I found my stride specializing in metal and double bass drumming, and have played with numerous metal bands, both live and in studio settings. As a teacher my method is simple. Figure out your goals as a student, figure out what’s in your way and close the gap. I’m not a fan of generic lessons or learning stuff that serves no practical purpose to a particular student, and instead we will focus on the specific things you need to get you to where you want to be, regardless of if you have never touched a pair of sticks or if you’re a tenured player looking to take the next step.

The first thing I like to do is a skill assessment and goal evaluation. Then I will formulate a curriculum and action plan to get you the highest quality results as efficiently as possible. The specifics of this will look different depending on your personal goals and skill level, but will be focused on engaging and enjoyable practice routines, translating theoretical knowledge into working experience, and pushing your personal skill level.
