About Me

I am a 19 year old music enthusiast who absolutely loves working with people of all ages! I attend the University of North Texas in Denton and am working towards my BS in psychology and my minor in Spanish and music. I have I have about 9 years of experience in music, specifically percussion and have taught private lessons independently for the past 4 summers. The students I have taught, usually between the ages of 6-16, tend to find my teaching style very fluid, creative and engaging! I am from Sugar Land and am very familiar with the area. As a percussionist, I specialize in drum set, marimba, hand drums, concert percussion, and am huge on technique and rhythm. My philosophy is that any person can be a musician with the right passion, excitement, work ethic, and of course, the right instruction. I have seen my own students grow in a short period of time and genuinely find their love for music through our time spent together. I am dependable, punctual and very patient.

Formal Education:

I have my high school diploma and am perusing my BS in psychology at UNT as a junior in credit hours.
I have been involved with the fine arts band curriculum at Dulles High School from 2007-2010.

Private Education:

I received lessons at The Percussion Center in Houston from 2003-2005 on drum set.
Took private lessons at Dulles High School with Ray Chapa on drum set, Latin percussion, concert percussion (timpani, marimba, concert and marching snare) from 2007-2010 and am able to read music.
I received private lessons from graduate students at North Texas in audition repertoire and syncopation, marimba, and concert percussion.

Performing Experience:

I have 7 years of performance experience in concert percussion, ensembles, and solos through the fine arts department at Dulles High School.

Experience Teaching:

I have been teaching privately since my junior year (2009) in high school to kids between the ages of 5-16 during the summers on drum set, concert percussion and marimba.
