Shari has always loved music from an early age. She began playing piano at the age of six and continued her education by taking lessons from a local professor in Kansas City. Her musical influences include Chopin, Debussy, and Bach. Shari's favorite thing about music is the power of self-expression and her favorite thing about teaching music is helping students acquire the skills they need to express themselves through song. What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner -

Students should expect instruction tailored to their needs and skill level using the Faber Piano Adventures curriculum in addition to preferred songs by the student. Piano lessons will be a fun experience where students can show off what they have been practicing and add new skills to their piano toolbelt.

Formal Education:

Shari received a Bachelor’s in Special Education from Brigham Young University. During her time at BYU, she participated in choirs and music classes. She currently teaches reading at a local middle school.

Private Education:

Shari participated in piano lessons for 12 years growing up. During high school she received lessons from Dr. Li-Hsin Chen and since then has continued to refine her piano skills.

Performing Experience:

Shari has performed piano on various levels. She grew up accompanying her local choirs including her high school choir in Kansas City. She has performed at state-wide competitions and received a gold rating.

Experience Teaching:

Shari taught piano to her younger siblings using the “Alfred’s Basic Piano Library” sequence. In addition to piano teaching, Shari has taught at public schools for the past two years.
