About Me

Hi, my name is Michael, and I am a composer from Oak Park, IL. I have been a student of music for 16 years. My musical influences include post-tonal and contemporary art music, such as Debussy, John Cage, and George Crumb. My teaching style can best be described as engaging and understanding. My teaching philosophy is centered on helping you become the best musician you can be. In my lessons, you can expect to learn music theory and professional etiquette for auditions. I like to tell my students that there is no such thing as a "stupid question." My favorite thing about teaching is witnessing growth and development as students become the musicians they are meant to be. One of my most memorable performances was seeing the Berlin Philharmoniker. My students appreciate that I am approachable and understanding. I primarily teach music theory and composition, but I can also teach voice, introductory guitar, basic piano, and basic low brass.
