Hi, my name is Julia! I am a passionate teacher from Lancaster. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My favorite classical and modern artists include Chopin, Debussy, Sara Bareilles, and Stephen Sondheim. In my free time, I love cooking, having good conversations with people, reading, and traveling. My teaching style can best be described as comfortable yet structured, with a varied approach to each student based on what they seek to achieve in lessons. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the basics of piano, such as theory, scales, arpeggios, and good technique, along with branching into different genres like classical, jazz, and modern. My approach is questions-based and I try to guide you to the answer and demonstrate everything you need to know. That way, you can visualize what you need to do. I like to tell my students that nobody is born "gifted" at piano; it takes discipline and hard work, and anyone can be great with enough practice. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing people get excited about their growth. My favorite performance was my senior recital when I played 45 minutes of classical and modern music from memory. My students love getting to perform in a recital yearly and the younger ones look forward to prizes every 4 weeks if they get all their practice boxes. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
