What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
Students in my production lessons using Logic Pro X or Pro Tools will learn to produce professional-quality music in electronic, pop, and orchestral/soundtrack genres. We’ll focus on techniques to achieve authentic, polished sounds using virtual instruments and samples. For orchestral music, I’ll guide students in applying modulation effects to strings, such as pitch bends and dynamic changes, to create a more realistic, expressive sound. We’ll also cover how to mix strings effectively—using EQ, compression, and reverb—so they sit perfectly in the mix alongside other elements. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to produce high-quality tracks in any genre, blending digital instruments with real-world sound techniques to create dynamic, professional music.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Students in my orchestra writing lessons should expect to be guided through a comprehensive learning experience where they’ll not only craft their own unique musical voice but also develop a deep understanding of orchestration principles. I will help students gain a solid foundation in the technical aspects of writing for orchestra, including the proper ranges for each instrument, the nuances of different timbres, and the importance of balancing the various sections of the orchestra. We will explore how to effectively combine instruments to achieve a rich and cohesive sound, paying close attention to dynamics, articulation, and texture. Additionally, students will learn how to write for orchestra in the context of different classical periods, whether they are working within the lush Romantic traditions or adopting the clarity and precision of Classical-era orchestration. The lessons will focus on translating compositional ideas into orchestrated works, drawing on stylistic elements from key composers while encouraging students to find their own creative approach. By the end of the course, students will have the tools to write for a full orchestra, confidently navigating the challenges of orchestral music while maintaining their individual artistic voice.
