Hi, I'm Josh from Riverview. My musical journey started in the Athens, GA music scene in the late 1990s. I've studied music for over 15 years, playing bass, guitar, and dobro in punk and bluegrass bands, and in various settings including ski resort towns and modern worship teams. My musical interests include classic rock, surf, country, and jazz standards. My teaching style is structured. My teaching philosophy is that understanding music theory unlocks musical freedom. In my lessons, expect to learn a digestible approach to music theory and guitar neck navigation. I tell students consistent practice is key. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students connect theory to playing. Some of my favorite performances have been busking and engaging with the audience. Students appreciate my clear explanations and practical strategies. I primarily teach guitar, but also bass and dobro. My approach is to empower students with musical understanding.
