Devin began playing guitar at the age of 12. Over the years, he developed his skills further by taking private lessons and going to music school at Denver School of the Arts and the University of Colorado Denver. He gained performance experience in the guitar/bass area by playing shows required by his schools and many downtown Denver venues, with many hard rock/metal bands. Though Devin can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are metal, jazz, and classical, which had great influence on his style of playing. Devin loves music because it’s a never ending challenge and there’s always something new to learn and loves teaching music because he loves watching his students grow and he believes in the power of art. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Devin can help you expand and enhance your playing. Devin is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals. Private Education:
Took private lessons with my guitar instructor from age 12 to age 19 at Colorado Music Institute. I also took private lessons from various other guest musicians/teachers at Denver School of the Arts and from Berkelee College of Music
Performing Experience:
Started performing at Denver School of the Arts and had a performance every quarter, so there were 2 classical performances and 2 jazz performances every year. In college I performed in front of audiences for some of my performance course finals where I played various genres ranging from metal to jazz. I also have experience performing with various touring metal acts based in the Midwest.
Experience Teaching:
Started teaching guitar at age 16 to kids ages 10-14 playing guitar that were looking to get into the Denver School of the Arts through the school. After that I taught students independently for about a year in college. From 2 I taught guitar, bass, and drum lessons at Performance Play Music School in Denver, CO to students ranging from age 6 to age 40 at all skill levels on guitar and bass, and beginner level for drummers.
