Hi, my name is John and I am a drummer and guitarist from Orange Texas. I’m currently enrolled at Lamar Port Arthur studying Audio Engineering & Commercial Music Performance. I have been a student of music for twenty years. My musical influences include Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I also enjoy heavier rock music as well. My teaching style can best be described as patient, and expressive in a way that strives for comprehension and retention. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I fully believe that anyone is capable of playing music, if both patience and practice are applied. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the basic fundamentals and workings of the instrument, and the techniques and stylings of whatever genre you’d to play! I like to tell my students to have a healthy balance of drive, and patience. My favorite thing about teaching is knowing that I’m giving a gift of something that has hugely impacted my life, and could possibly do the same or more for someone else’s life.. My favorite performance was “Stephen Wilson Jr.-I’m a song, Live at The Print Shop.” My students love that I genuinely care about their journey as a musician. I primarily teach guitar and drums, but I can also teach piano. I am still a novice at the piano, as I am currently enrolled in a college course learning to play, but I could definitely teach the basics. My approach as a teacher is to show kindness and respect to all students, as well as share the knowledge I have to help build others up as musicians and performers.
