About Me

Hi, my name is Devin, and Iam a saxophonist from Griffin, GA. I have been a student of music for 13 years. My musical influences include Gerald Albright, James Carter and I also enjoy John Coltrane. My teaching style can best be described as firm and uplifting. MMyteaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I will never make my student feel ashamed or less than because they can’t do it. In my lessons, you can expect to learn scales, playing with a rich tone, reading musical notation, among other things. I like to tell my students that today’s squeaks are tomorrow’s notes, keep trying. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students and gain confidence from learning and playing their horn. My favorite performance was conducting my first concert at Hueytown High school and showcasing all the work me and my students put into the school year. My students love that I can provide a different insight to their education and expose them to different performances and music styles. I primarily teach classical, but I can also teach some jazz.
