Hiya, my name is Salamasina "Amy". Iʻm from Kapolei, Hawaiʻi and I currently reside in Avondale, Arizona. Iʻm 22 years old and I'm kind've figuring out what to do with life. I grew up on the stage and in performing arts for years---Iʻve travelled for music and performing arts to New Zealand, Pasedena, Hawaiʻi Hilo, Kona, Maui, Molokaʻi, Kalaupapa, Kauaʻi and have had the opportunity to teach music to many. My dad was a worship leader and he came to Hawaiʻi on a scholarship for jazz band. My first instrument was ukulele at the age of 6; then piano at 7--guitar and bass came naturally because of my understanding of music theory. I love working with kiddos because they bring joy, excitement and really help me practice patience and understanding. While music is my passion, I'm really nerdy and enjoy science a lot. I want to pursue a career in pediatric neurology, but medical school is a bit out of my budget as a 22-year-old-semi-new-to-adulting-life, haha! Music, the gym and cooking always keep me grounded when life gets hectic--I figure, why not pass this on to the next generation or whoever wants to learn? My schedule is pretty flexible and I'll be in Arizona for a while so--if you want to learn music or have your kiddo learn music, feel free to reach out :)-Amy
Salamasina S. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .
Degree and Field of Study:
NursingAugust 2020
University of Hawaiʻi
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I'll initially ask the student or student's parent/guardian what they would like to learn. Then I will ask them to show me a song they'd want to learn. Being able to train someone's ear is more beneficial than training in the written music theory, in my personal opinion. However, I am flexible in teaching based on the student's goals and objectives. The lesson is for both of us--I think that I get the opportunity to share my knowledge in music, and my student would share their knowledge in music. The reciprocity relationship between teacher and student allows both individuals to grow in their respective endeavors.
