Born and raised in the vibrant city of Newark, New Jersey, I was immersed in a musical environment from a young age. With my grandmother's piano melodies filling our home and my father's multifaceted talents as a reggae guitarist, bassist, DJ, and radio station host, music became an integral part of my upbringing. Tragedy struck with the passing of my beloved grandmother, prompting my family to relocate to Florida. It was there that I found my musical niche, initially as a member of the school band playing the flute, later transitioning to the bari saxophone. However, it was a serendipitous moment when I picked up the bass guitar for an ensemble that ignited my passion for jazz music. Immersing myself in the intricate world of jazz, I absorbed its nuances and complexities, earning the moniker "the jazz wizard" from my high school band director. Encouraged by my mentor, I was introduced to Dr. Samuel Rowley, a renowned Music educator, which fueled my decision to pursue higher education in jazz studies. Enrolling at Virginia State University, I delved deeper into the realm of jazz, honing my skills under the guidance of esteemed faculty members. Through rigorous training and dedicated practice, I expanded my musical horizons, embracing the improvisational nature of jazz and exploring its rich history and cultural significance. As I continue my journey as a musician, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of jazz music, blending tradition with innovation to create captivating melodies that resonate with audiences worldwide.
