About Me

My name is Tia and I am from Niceville, Florida! I have been in choirs and taking dance lessons for as long as I can remember. Participating in high school show choir, voice lessons, Florida All-State, and several orchestra choirs were formative experiences that ultimately led to me pursuing and studying music in college. I studied music at Florida State University initially as a Music Therapy major and eventually transitioned to a Bachelor of Arts in Voice. While at FSU I was a member of FSU University Singers and Chamber Singers. In these choirs I had the opportunity to perform in several orchestra choirs that ignited my passion for collaborative music. Although much of my schooling is in Classical Music, I am very much a lover of pop, R&B, and contemporary music. Some of my favorite artists include SZA, Kehlani, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rogers who all inspire me to be a better musician and performer. I love teaching music for many reasons, the main one being able to mentor young musicians and nurture their gifts the same way my choir directors and voice teachers did for me growing up! My goal is to celebrate your student’s favorite music, be able to use some of their favorite songs to teach vocal techniques and basic theory, and instill confidence in their musical and performance abilities! I am a firm believer that we are all constantly learning from each other, and every time I teach a lesson I learn something new that makes me a better vocalist, teacher, and person. I look forward to learning from each other soon!
