Hey, I’m Matthew. I’ve been a professional pianist and organist for 13 years now. I’m a New Orleanian who has some roots in Houston. In my earlier days I got introduced to music through the genre of Gospel and Traditional Jazz. After I took lessons from my father, I enrolled and graduated from the Don Jamison School of Music and NOCCA. I began playing organ and piano at the age of 7. I’m currently finishing my studies at Oberlin College in Jazz Performance and Africana Studies. His musical influences are Cory Henry, Phineas NewBorn, and Charles Ives among others. Matthew's favorite thing about music is how it connects and educates people through all genres. My favorite thing about teaching music is admiring the positive impact that it can bring any student that I teach. When taking a lesson with Matthew you can expect me to be open to new ideas and concepts. I look forward to getting to know my future students and learning about their specific goals and interests!.
