Abraham A.

Abraham was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to the United States in 2016. He studied at North Canyon High School Phoenix, AZ in the English Second Language ESL program during his freshman year of high school. In 2018 and 2019, Abraham was selected to perform with the West Arizona All-Regional Music Festival Band. In 2018, he was selected for the Arizona All-State Symphony Orchestra and the All-National Symphony Orchestra NAfME. During the summer of 2019, he served in the percussion section and as a joropo maracas soloist for the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles YOLA National Festival. Abraham graduated from Northern Arizona University NAU in 2024, majoring in music with an emphasis on percussion performance and studying under Dr. Abby Fisher. At NAU, Abraham performed with the NAU Symphony Orchestra, the NAU Percussion Ensemble, and the NAU Wind Symphony, in which he was featured as a soloist with the percussion quartet concerto "Renewal." Abraham served as the president of the NAU Percussion Society. During the fall of 2024, Abraham attended PASIC and participated in the PASIC Chamber Competition with the NAU Percussion Ensemble and won the Jim Petercsak PASIC Scholarship. Abraham founded the Banda Latino Caribeña de Flagstaff in the fall of 2022, which has performed and collaborated with local organizations, including the NAU Student Showcase in Kitt Recital Hall, Arizona Sister Cities, the Tour of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Flagstaff Community Band, and the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council. Abraham participated in the "Tocalo" summer camp at the University of Arizona in 2022, where he worked with world-class percussionists Russell Hartenberger and Michael Burritt.
