About Me
Hello. My name is JJ, and I have been performing live music since I was 11, and am now 20. I play drums and sing, both mainly rock/metal music, but I can teach beginning jazz, country, and most every genre on drums. My specialty is more extreme vocals, such as distorted, grungy, and rough vocals in a healthy way with good technique. I also can teach two basic screams, fry and false chord. Admittedly, my vibrato isn't great, so teaching pop music and the like is unfamiliar to me. However, basic singing technique and vocal health are also strong points of mine. I have taken lessons since my childhood, so I am very familiar with the professional environment and ettiquite required. My teaching experience comes from internships and teaching summer camps at music programs I have attended for years. I have taught at 17 summer camps and various seasonal shows. Anywhere from helping a kid set his drums up for the first time, to teaching a teenager how to sound like Kurt Cobain, I can do it!
JJ S. has over 1-2 years of music experience in the Sharpsburg area.

Formal Education:
Jazz Performance on Drum Set at Kennessaw State University and online vocal camps at multiple universities.
Private Education:
Vocal lessons for six years and drum lessons for ten. I took both at School of Rock Atlanta, which combined with my live performing experience. I also took drum lessons from the drummer of Drivin' N' Cryin' and vocal lessons from the singer of Glimmers. Both are bands that have done national tours, one doing international regularly. On top of this, I took personal lessons with the head of Jazz Percussion at KSU, Justin Chesarek during multiple camps.
Performing Experience:
I have ten years of experience performing live. This includes: all three rooms of The Masquerade, Dogwood Festival twice, The Caverns and The Signal in Tennessee, dozens of private events, and most popular venues in Georgia. I have extensive experience drumming and singing live, both covers and my own music.
Experience Teaching:
I have taught private lessons to people I know for a while now, and have taught lessons at internships for camps. Anywhere from teaching drummers their favorite song, to teaching singers how to scream, I've done it! I am very familiar with the professional environment, and am confident in my abilities to further young and aspiring musicians.
