About Me

Hi, my name is Saryn and I am a musician from Kentucky. I have been a student of music for 15 years. My musical influences include Classical as well as modern electric and jazz compositions, and I also enjoy Metal and Progressive music. My teaching style can best be described as flexible and fair. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I go to great lengths to teach my students and have the ability to bring out the best in all of them. I've been able to teach anyone, even those that felt it impossible to learn an instrument. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the basic fundamentals as well as music theory and musicianship. Advanced techniques are also on the table as well as reading sheet music. I like to tell my students that music is an acquired skill, and talent is largely a myth. If you work hard enough at anything you will be good at it; and often the will to prepare needs to be greater than the will to succeed in this field. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the joy students get from accomplishing a goal that was seemingly out of reach, and the personal satisfaction of their own achievements. My favorite performance was seeing Coheed and Cambria live at the Mercury Ballroom. I primarily teach Classical, but I can also teach Jazz and any modern styles. My approach as a teacher is to foster an environment of learning and equal footing amongst all my students, and an environment they can thrive in.
