To whom it may concern: I am writing a letter of reference for Andrea. I have had the privilege of getting to know Andrea through her student teaching experience at STEM Elementary School in Richfield during the Spring semester 2025. Andrea is a caring, sensitive young woman with a strong value system. She often demonstrates her character through a genuine caring for others. Andrea demonstrates a positive attitude throughout her teaching day, both with staff and students. She treats adults, fellow students, and herself respectfully. During her time at STEM, Andrea openly participated in the regular activities and has also attended extra events and activities for and with the groups at school. She has shown us that she is willing to try new and innovative ideas, and yet follow existing curriculum guidelines. She has an admirable work ethic and is rarely absent from her duties. Andrea is dependable and trustworthy. She is organized and comes to classes, meetings, and leadership events well prepared. She has prepared and taught lessons in K-5th grades this semester. In her lesson delivery and teaching she has shown that she possesses the abilities to “see the big picture” of the programming, as well as pay attention to details. Andrea has good classroom control and uses positive methods for keeping students engaged and on task. Andrea has a strong fine arts background and wonderful musical skills and abilities which enables her to grasp the concepts effectively. Throughout her weeks here, we have been able to see that Andrea is a “team player” and works well with other teachers in cooperative efforts. Andrea possesses valuable assets that would enhance any type of job opportunity she might be seeking, but it is truly evident that she loves teaching. Andrea also has a noticeable passion for the arts, music and theater and possesses qualifications needed for any kind of position. I highly recommend Andrea for any type of music teaching position that she may be seeking. If there are any further questions regarding Andrea’s character or her abilities, please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email. Sincerely, Gayle E. To Whom it May Concern: My name is Dr. Timothy D. Buzza and I lead the choirs at Washburn High School in south Minneapolis. Andrea Dominic did her student teaching with me for eight weeks this past spring. Andrea has a love of music and enjoys working with young people. Her enthusiasm for the songs of pop and musical theatre was evident in her smile as she worked with kids-and in the time she put into improving her ability to effectively teach those songs to her students. Andrea’s work ethic is strong. She came to school early most days to work on her craft. As someone relatively new to both piano playing and ensemble singing, Andrea’s piano and conducting skills are emerging. During student teaching, she improved in both essential areas. She was open to feedback and instruction and worked hard to build her skills. She led aspects of choir rehearsals including warm-ups and teaching vocal parts. Andrea conducted a choral medley with the 9th and 10th graders at the spring pop concert. Andrea helped out in guitar class teaching open chords to beginners. She led the class in learning a pop song and helped them perform that song at the concert singing the lead vocal. She helped in a general music course working with young composers and piano players assisting them with compositional decisions and finding appropriate repertoire. She volunteered with the after school musical leading warm-ups and providing support to the musical director. Andrea’s teaching and musical skills are currently more applicable to working with younger children. Her enthusiasm and kindness will have students smilinging and singing. I’m sure as she gets more teaching experience and makes strides in her piano and conducting skills she will find success with older students and leading ensembles. Her love of music, her kind and friendly nature, and her work ethic will serve her well as she continues to grow as a teacher. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Sincerely, Timothy D. To Whom it may Concern, I am writing this letter for Andrea who studied applied voice lessons with me over the past few years during her studies as a Music Education voice major. Andrea was very outgoing and decided to train privately over the summer in order to insure her success here at the University of Minnesota. Andrea was a very collegial and supportive member of my voice studio. She attended our Recital Hour regularly when students were performing and supported her voice colleagues by learning about their recital repertoire and studying as well many similar songs and arias. In studio class, Andrea performed her recital repertoire often showing examples of her singing Broadway Theater and classical styles such as “Ich Liebe dich” sung in German by Ludwig Beethoven and Glück’s “O del mio dolce ardor” in Italian. Andrea was always curious about learning to sing in foreign languages and performed many challenging Songs on her Senior Recital. One highlight was studying Barbarina’s aria from Le Nozze di Figaro which Andrea mastered and showed her success in her Recital performance. Andrea Also was featured in various musicals in the Twin-Cities and performed with the University choirs with great enthusiasm and made a very meaningful contribution to her work in the University ensembles. I was happy to welcome Andrea from Minot, North Dakota where she Studied voice with Dr. DeVera Bowles, who is a close friend and colleague from The Western Plains Opera, where I have performed avidly over the past seven seasons. I’m sure Andrea Would be a great asset to your school and her energy and dedication will be a plus to your music program. Please, let me know if you would like any additional information about Andrea. It would be a pleasure to recommend Andrea to your school. I wish you a wonderful day and thank you so much for your time and consideration in regards to Andrea. Best Wishes, Philip Zawisza Assistant Professor of Voice University of Minnesota Philip Zawisza wrote on Mon, 30 Nov -0001
