Dan began playing guitar at the ripe old age of four, by sitting on his Dads lap and learning "Hey Good Looking" by Hank Williams. Over the years, he developed his skills further by expanding beyond guitar into songwriting, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, and old time clawhammer banjo. He gained performance experience by playing at a wide range of venues and festivals from restaurants and breweries to the prestigious Rocky Mountain Folks festival. Though Dan can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are fingerstyle guitar and bluegrass flatpicking guitar, both of which have had great influence on his style of playing. Dan loves music because of its potential to evoke emotion and build community and loves teaching music because of how rewarding it is to watch students grow and develop their own relationship with their instrument. What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students should expect to have fun yet be challenged. Students should expect to pick the material they want to learn. Students will be challenged with building the best habits around setting goals and learning the technique to get to where they can play the songs that they want to play. Students can expect to be introduced to new music. Lastly, and most importantly, students can expect my kindness, respect and humility.
Formal Education:

I have a lifetime of performance experience ranging from churches, recital halls and small listening rooms, to breweries, restaurants and festivals.

I've taught Suzuki Guitar and traditional guitar lessons to children from the age of 6 to retirees. I've worked at the University of Wyoming, Boulder Arts Academy, Harmony House Music School, Colorado School for the Musical Arts, and Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School.
