About Me
Hi, I'm Kit! I'm 26 years old and having been playing music for over 15 years. I have a degree in songwriting from Berklee College of music where I studied songwriting, guitar, and music production. I have been teaching for 10 years, mainly private lessons to friends and families - as well as summer camps at School of Rock. My favorite bands and artists include Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Mac Demarco, the velvet underground, the clash, Linda rondstant, Joni Mitchell, count Basie, doc Watson, and many more! I can teach jazz, rock, folk, and pop. I am able to teach you about music theory, techniques for the guitar, and as well recording, and writing music!

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
students should expect to be in a safe, and creative environment when it comes to my lessons. when it comes to songwriting you are not just learning how songs work, but how to create them yourself, and thats can be a fragile and personal process. you can spend all day, figuring out chord structures, and song forms, but at the end of it all it won't show you how to actually make meaningful music. I want to explore the music that the student is interested in, I find forcing kids to learn music they don't care for to be a useless practice. but if you show them how all music is connected through the genres they like they may just start appreciating more types of music which will in turn strengthen their songwriting abilities. we will focus on lyric writing, song structures, and even the recording of songs if they are interested. through that we will identify those ideas in already existing music so the information sticks, and the lessons are not robotic. I also believe the way you write music informs how you play your instrument, and vice versa. so I can work on teaching them guitar, and bass which are most times in modern songwriting the way songs are written. and for any instrument I dont play, it will make no difference cause its all music so it won't impede my ability to teach them.
Formal Education:
interlochen center for the arts high school I studied classical, and jazz guitar. Berklee college of music I have a degree in songwriting, and studied guitar.
Performing Experience:
I have been preforming music all my life, I was in multiple bands in high school and college, from large choir in high school, to doing tours in rock bands in college.
Experience Teaching:
I have taught private lessons for over 10 years, and have experience doing summer camps at school of rock.
