Hello! My name is Robert and I teach Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet, and Writing/Music Production. Teaching is a beautiful pursuit. The values instilled in the lesson space far exceed the notes on the page. Music lessons help foster discipline, illustrate the benefits of delayed gratification, and develop work ethics that set students up for lifelong success that doesn’t necessarily mean a career in the arts. I try to push my students to be the best version of themselves while also crafting a positive safe environment in which achievement is a healthy activity. Students that take lessons from me will work on developing self-reliance and goal-directed mind sets. I also think it is important to actually enjoy what we are playing, so as lessons progress course material will be crafted to the student’s individual interest. As challenging as it is, music should ultimately be a fun and joyous occasion. I pride myself on striking a good balance between being understanding, compassionate and even-tempered while also holding my students to a high standard that will help them grow into the musicians and people I know they can become. In regards to long term goals, we will work on both developing necessary craft and technique to execute challenging material while also building up a repertoire of songs that are fun and rewarding to play. I appreciate you taking the time to watch this video and look forward to the milestones we will achieve together as teacher and student.
