About Me
Hello! My name is Tyler. I’m a self-taught—but college-educated—musician, audio engineer, guitarist, and songwriter. I’ve been playing guitar, writing, and producing music for 10 years. I recently graduated from Transylvania University (Class of 2025) with a degree in Music Studies and a minor in Digital Arts & Media. I initially pursued a degree in Music Technology, which gave me a strong foundation in audio engineering, production, and songwriting, before broadening my focus to include music theory, history, and performance. As a guitarist, I’ve developed a unique blend of rhythm and lead playing, rooted in both ear training and formal music education. My rhythm guitar work is particularly strong—emphasizing feel, groove, and dynamic interplay. While I taught myself guitar, I studied formally during my final year of college, which added depth to my technique and theory. I also played alto saxophone for over 10 years, developing strong sight-reading skills (especially in treble and bass clef) and ensemble experience. Currently, I write, record, and perform original music for my band Venus In Furs and my solo projects. I've been composing and producing since 2015, and I’m confident in my ability not only to create music, but to guide others in developing their own voices as players and songwriters. While I don’t yet have formal experience teaching guitar or music lessons, I bring a well-rounded musical background, academic training, and a deep passion for helping others begin their creative journeys. I’d be excited to share what I’ve learned and inspire new musicians along the way.

What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce

Beginner - Intermediate

Students can expect fun, engaging lessons at any skill level, with a focus on understanding why production techniques work—not just how to copy them. With ten years of experience producing and a background in music technology, I teach the core concepts behind EQ, compression, panning, gain staging, effects, mixing, mastering, and live-tracking. I’m proficient in FL Studio and Pro Tools, and also comfortable with Logic Pro and other DAWs. Whether you're brand new or looking to sharpen your skills, I’ll help you build a solid foundation and develop your own workflow and creative voice in the studio.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Students can expect a relaxed, supportive, and creative learning environment tailored to their personal goals. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to sharpen your rhythm and songwriting skills, lessons will be paced to your comfort level. We'll focus on core fundamentals: chords, strumming, rhythm, and ear training; while also exploring how to play songs you enjoy and develop your own musical voice. I emphasize playing by feel, understanding the "why" behind what you're learning, and building confidence along the way. I also offer guidance on songwriting, arranging, and playing in a band if that interests you. My goal is to help you grow into a musician—not just a player.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

Students can expect a creative, practical approach to songwriting that focuses on melody, structure, and turning rough ideas into complete songs. We’ll explore how to build songs from chord progressions, loops, or melodies, and work with tools like FL Studio, Logic Pro, or Pro Tools to shape arrangements and improve production. I emphasize consistency and finishing ideas—every song you write builds your skills, even if it’s not your favorite. My goal is to help you find your voice and learn how to turn inspiration into something real and repeatable. I’ve been writing songs for ten years, and I’ve learned that no matter how many you finish, there’s always room to grow. That’s part of what makes it worth doing.
