Hi! My name is Ben, and I'm a musician, performer, and educator from East TN. I have taught music for many years both privately and in the classroom, and I love to listen to, study, and teach all styles and genres of music. I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music and have taught hundreds of students, both privately and in university-level classes in music history, theory, and popular/world music. Many of my students have gone on to have successful careers in performance, recording, and the music industry. I am very open-minded about all forms of music, and I strongly encourage students to bring their own creative interests and aims into their lessons. My desire as a teacher is to meet students where they are and to help them built the concrete skills to achieve their creative and musical goals, whatever they may be. I am skilled on the guitar, electric bass, and ukulele, and fluent in music theory, technique, and written notation. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my curriculum to the needs and wants of the student.
