Growing up as a pastor’s son in a church without a musician, he was naturally drawn to fill that role—learning to play out of both necessity and passion. He continued his musical journey by dedicating himself to practice and playing regularly in worship settings. His musical influences include gospel music, with a deep appreciation for artists like Marvin Sapp, and he is especially inspired by slow worship styles. Rubens's favorite thing about music is that it’s the soul’s true language, and his favorite thing about teaching is the joy of passing on his passion to others.
