About Me

I started playing piano and singing at age 5 and guitar at 14. I have performed in bands and solo since 14. I started coaching amateur and professional musicians when I was 20 and it's something I still enjoy. I also toured as stand-up comedian for 8 years with music being a big part of my show. I have written and published many how-to books and videos on music instruction including: "How To Play By Ear For Piano." How To Play By Ear For Guitar." As a songwriter I have custom written hundreds of songs for other groups, companies and clients. I am currently recording a cd of original music, a mix of serious and funny songs in different genres.

Formal Education:

I attended Bryant University for three years, Nichols College for one year, RI School of Music in Providence for one year, and Berklee University of Music in Boston for one year.

Private Education:

I studied piano with many teachers including jazz great Mike Renzi, former pianist for Mel Torme, and classical great Roberta Swideen. I also studied voice under several teachers including Ana Marie Saratelli.

Performing Experience:

Started playing school dances and parties at 14 as lead vocalist and lead guitarist. Have played in rock, pop, blues, country and jazz bands and also extensively as a solo singer/pianist/guitarist in clubs and concerts. Toured for 8 years as comedy club headliner with music a big part of show. Also have years of experience custom writing music and comedy for corporate events. I really enjoy teaching others others, sharing my knowledge and passion for music to help players and singers evolve more quickly and get the most out of their musical experience. and evolution. One of my niches is songwriting, which I have been dedicated to since age 20. instructional book and videos for keyboards, guitar and songwriting.

Experience Teaching:

I began teaching guitar and piano at age 20 and have taught on and off since then. I enjoy teaching all ages and levels beginner to advance, and both amateur and professional. I try to stay true to each student's goals and have them play the music they truly love. My method is successful because it's fun every step of the way and the student can feel the progress each time they play their instrument (or sing)!
